☀️ Summer is officially. I can tell because I’m complaining about the heat all the time. 😂

I definitely miss the cooler climate of the upper pacific northwest – the desert is not my happy place. But being near family is. So, in addition to hopping in a cool pool anytime I get the chance, here are six of my favorite tips to cope with summer heat and incessant sunshine:

🔆 TIP 1:  Sunscreen.  Everybody needs sunscreen, but most brands really bother my super sensitive skin.  Happily, doTERRA’s doesn’t!  They just released a new SPF 28 daily moisturizer that I’m in love with and can confidently recommend!

🔆 TIP 2: Drink LOTS of water.  I like my water cold and after trying MANY different bottles, I’ve fallen in love with the Freesip by Owala.  It is insulated, has a brilliant locking mechanism to prevent leads, and comes it fun colors.  To me, it’s water bottle perfection.

🔆 TIP 3:  Use Peppermint or SuperMint essential oil.  They are cooling to the body when applied topically or ingested.  Here are some ways I use them for cooling:

  • Adding a drop to my Owala water bottle
  • A drop under my tongue or on the roof of my mouth
  • Touch or diluted roller bottle on my spine or feet
  • Adding a drop to some unscented body lotion
  • A few drops in a spray bottle filled with water to mist on my skin

🔆 TIP 4: Carry a folding fabric fan in my purse.  Whenever I pull it out while waiting in line somewhere, everyone around me is super jealous that THEY didn’t think of that. Sometimes I put a drop of essential oil on my fan so I can enjoy a lovely aroma while I cool myself. This is especially helpful when I’m stuck around people or pets that could benefit from a shower. 😁

🔆 TIP 5: This super quiet, rechargeable, portable fan has become my best friend.  I use it at my desk, or while I’m cooking, or in the bathroom while doing my hair, or by my bed when I sleep.   Because it is rechargeable, you can also take it camping, or out to the hot shed. As a bonus, I can also use it as a mini diffuser by putting a couple drops of essential oil on a piece of fabric and clipping or taping it onto the fan.  If you tend toward overheating, get one!  5 stars!  ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

🔆 TIP 6: Wear sunglasses and a visor hat to shade my face.  I love how this comfortable visor rolls up to fit in my purse or car cubby, so it’s always handy when I get the urge to get out in the sun.  And I can wear it with a ponytail or messy bun.
